PE Teacher CPD & Development
At Little Athletes, we believe great PE starts with confident, knowledgeable and well-supported staff. We work with primary schools, specialist SEND settings and multi-academy trusts to develop practical PE teaching skills and help create improvements that last.
Our tailored CPD programmes combine expert guidance, practical activities and supportive mentoring, helping teachers and teaching assistants feel more confident delivering engaging, inclusive PE.
Practical PE Teacher CPD
Our experienced coaches support staff through lesson demonstrations, collaborative teaching, mentoring and constructive feedback. Training is shaped around your school’s priorities, with opportunities for staff to practise and build confidence.
We can help staff develop:
-
PE subject knowledge, planning and lesson progression
-
Fundamental movement skills, games and activities
-
Inclusive teaching and adaptations for different needs
-
Pupil engagement, assessment and confidence to lead PE independently
Specialist SEND & Inclusive PE
Every child deserves the chance to participate, achieve and enjoy being active. Drawing on our experience in specialist SEND schools, we help teachers and TAs adapt activities, equipment and teaching approaches to meet pupils’ individual needs.
Our practical development focuses on making PE accessible, positive and meaningful for children with a wide range of abilities and additional needs.

OUR Quality PROMISE
We value strong, lasting relationships with schools. We offer regular check-ins with headteachers or PE leads, tailored planning and clear communication. Where programmes involve ongoing visits, we aim to provide a familiar, consistent coach and suitable cover when needed.

Supporting PE & Sport Premium Priorities
The Department for Education’s 2026/27 guidance encourages schools to prioritise continuing professional development (CPD) that builds staff confidence, knowledge and skills and supports sustainable PE improvements.
Little Athletes can discuss staff-development programmes that reflect those priorities. Schools remain responsible for checking that any proposed expenditure meets the applicable funding rules. Ordinary curriculum PE teaching and PPA cover must be funded separately, not from the PE and Sport Premium.
